How to allow users to update data in one table with values in another table
Hi Community,
I am working on a dashboard to visualize the total outlay cost on materials used to construct different buildings.
This will include 2 visualizations:
1) Total outlay cost per building (bar chart)
2) Total outlay cost per material for a given building (donut chart)
The data I am working with is as follows:
The "Materials for each building" table gives the materials used in construction, the quantity used and it also uses a LOOKUP to get the cost of the materials from the second table - "Materials Reference" - using the Material ID.
I need to include functionality to allow users to substitute different materials in the "Materials for each building table" and model the impact on the overall cost for that building.
How could this be done?
The "Materials for each building" table will grow over time, therefore I am not sure if parameters could be used for the Material ID?
Please if you have any questions to further clarify the problem, post below and I will get back to you immediately.
Any and all help will be highly appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi,
Drag Building to your Table visual and write this measure
Total cost = SUMX('Table1','Table1'[Quantity]*'Table1'[Cost])
For the second visual, create a slicer of Building and select any one building. To your desired visual, drag the Material field and the Total cost measure.
Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Whilst this creates the 2 main visualizations - this doesn't solve the problem of how to substitute rows in the "Materials for each building" table with materials from the "Materials Reference" table.
