How to add icons to an area chart?

Right now i have my chart like this

I would like to add icons that symbolize unespected events that happen for 6 months, for example, if something happens on november I have to put an icon on that month to say that it started there and a line to may to symbolize that it started on november and finished on may and this can happen more times on the same month and on other months too, it doesn't matter if i have to put another visual on the top of the chart, at the end of the day I need the chart to look something like this

At the end what I did was to add cards on the area chart and give them a transparent background
