Hello, I have an excel file containing some data. I uploaded this file to the Power BI Service as a dataset and then connected a Power BI Desktop Report to this dataset using a live connection. I was thinking that it would be good to use a live connection since I thought it would provide the ability for others to be able to update the dataset online, instead of the dataset being hosted on my local machine. I cannot figure out how to add new data to the dataset in the Power BI Service. Is it possible to add new data to a dataset in the Power BI Service, and if so how can it be done? Any help is greatly appreciated!
are you saying you want to edit the data in the dataset onnline, or you want to create a new power bi file and combine the dataset with some other data? if you want to change the dataset you have to change it in the original file and republish.

I would like to edit the dataset online by adding new data to it, so that when I refresh the report in Power BI Desktop, the new data will show up
so then you need to edit that dataset that is already sitting in the power bi service, ie you need to edit the pbix file you originally published, you will need to edit that file and republish the file to the service which will then overwrite the current one (as long as it has the same name) and then your new data will be available.
