Hi everyone,
I’m working with a large Matrix visual in Power BI that contains many fields. By default, the row headers are frozen, and I can only scroll horizontally through the values.
I can temporarily unfreeze the headers by right-clicking the visual and selecting Unfreeze panes, which lets me scroll left and right across the entire table. However, when I close and reopen the report, the row headers become frozen again.
Is there any way to permanently unfreeze the row headers so that the setting remains after reopening the report?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello @Mahendra_k ,
The Matrix visual's default behavior is to freeze the row headers when the content exceeds the visual's display area to help users keep track of the row context while scrolling horizontally through the values. There is no option to disable permanently. You can use alternate solutions :
1. Use Bookmarks to save the state
2. Use Standard table visual and ajdust settings
3. Use custome visuals like Inforiver Matrix
I hope this helps.
Cheers.

Thanks for the quick response!
I understand that the Matrix visual freezes row headers by default, but my requirement is to keep the headers permanently unfrozen, even after reopening the report.
Just to confirm — there’s no way to permanently remove or disable the frozen pane behavior in the Matrix visual, right? I really want the table to scroll fully left and right without locking the row headers.
If that’s not possible, I’ll explore your suggested alternatives.
Thanks again for clarifying!
Hello @Mahendra_k
Yes, There is no direct way in Matrix. Although you can try for some workaround like showing headers in a card on top of Matrix header and adjusting width to match Matrix header and hiding Matrix header or something similar . You can opt for alternate ones as well.
Cheers.
