How do i allow someone enter start date and finish Date

Hi

I have a number of reports / visualisations that are replacements for current web pages. On the old systems the people using them were able to select a Start Date and End Date on the screen either by typing it in or by using a calander picker.

The data and graphs on the screen then reflected this.

I have not really seen anything like this in Power BI so hope that someone out there can point me in the right direction. This is a missing part that is stopping people using the system at the moment

thanks

Hi @JamesCH,

In Power BI Desktop, you can consider to use Advanced filter of Visual level filters/Page level filters/Report level filters. With Advanced filter, you can select a start date and end date to filter reports and visualizations. Besides, selecting a date range in Timeline slicer will have same effect on your visualization. There is an example for your reference.

In addition, the difference among Visual level filters, Page level filters and Report level filters are as follows, choose them based on your needs.

1. Visual level filters - these filters limit the data shown only within the selected visualization
2. Page level filters - all the visualizations on a particular page have their results limited
3. Report level filters - all visualizations on the report have their data restricted by the filter criteria

Thanks,

In current version, there is no option available for input field but you can achieve this using slicers. For this you need to add dimension in your data model and then use the dates in slicer.
