Resolver IIIHow do I update Power Bi Desktop?
Usually there is a little pop-up that happens when you open telling you that there is an update (non Store version) but I haven't run that version for so long I don't know.
And yes, just close Power BI, run the download to install, it will overwrite it. September 2019, are you running a RS version?

Community ChampionReport Server edition. Special version that works with the corresponding version of Power BI Report Server. It only gets released quarterly and I recal that September 2019 was a popular version so I was just curious and was going to point out that you need to make sure that your Power BI Report Server and Desktop version are in sync.

Goodness Greg... I'm just getting out the starting blocks here. As in, I've just updated powerbi and am feeling pretty good about it. hahah. I only have powerbi desktop installed, not any "power bi report server". I've managed to publish a little visualsation "to the cloud" which I imagine is the little Azure space just for me which comes with my Microsoft account.
If I take a guess - - is "Power BI Report Server" something I would buy and install on our local network and then I wouldn't have to publish to azure?
Goodness the learning curve in front of me... foof!
