How do I set the Environment in Power BI Desktop
In Power BI on the Web, you can set the environment using the Power BI Service. To do this, you will need to go to the Power BI Service and select the workspace that you want to use. From there, you can select the environment that you want to use from the Workspace drop-down menu.
So, thank you for this response.
I don't see how to accomplish what you're recommending. Are environments inside workspaces, or workspaces inside environments? I created a new workspace and selected it. This is in the service. I clicked on the new workspace on the left-hand column of the window but no options for environment came up. If there is another "workspace menu" that you're referring to I don't know where it is.

I apologize if my previous response was unclear.
In Power BI, environments are not contained within workspaces, but rather they are separate entities in the Power BI Service. An environment is a container that holds datasets, dashboards, reports, and other Power BI assets. You can create and manage multiple environments within a workspace, or in multiple workspaces.

Thank you for the clarity on the relationship between workspaces and environments.
I still see no way to set my environment. Again, in Power Automate it's an option at the top of the screen. Easy. In Power BI that option is not there, and I do not see an option (or any mention of environments at all) anywhere in the main service screen.
Can you (or anyone else kind enough to help) tell me where on this screen I should be looking please?

Hello John_L_Edwards I am experiencing the same as you. Have you been able to figure out? If so would you be so kind to share please?

To access the environment settings, you need to go to the workspace where you have created the environment. You can do this by clicking on "Workspaces" in the left-side navigation, selecting the workspace where your environment is located, and then clicking on the "Environments" tab.
From there, you can select the environment you want to work with, and manage the assets within that environment.
