How do I make this visual ?
Hello, I'm trying to create a visual based on the example data below.
I attempted to use a bullet chart, but it didn't quite meet my needs.
Is there a way to achieve this in Power BI?
desired output-
I’d like to include a grey area representing ±30%(step1) and ±10%(step2) of the value.
| plus, minus 30% | plus, minus 10% | |
| group | step 1 | step 2 |
| A | 100 | 50 |
| B | 50 | 70 |
Hi topazz11
Start by unpivoting all columns except Group. Then, use a stacked bar and line combo chart. Create two measures for the column series: the lower bar should be set to transparent, and the upper bar should represent the ± range stacked on top of it. For the line series, set the line width to zero so it’s hidden, but keep the markers enabled and visible. Finally, adjust the min and max values of the y-axis for both the line and the columns so they share the same scale using conditional formatting.
The second image below uses the combo chart. Would have been with a line chart with error bars but there is a limit as to how wide the error bars can be.
Please see the attached pbix.

Hi topazz11 ,
You can use a Clustered Column Chart for Steps A & B and add reference lines for ±10% and ±30% via the Analytics pane.
Optionally, create a DAX measure for % change between steps and apply conditional colors:
Green = within ±10%
Yellow = ±10–30%
Red = >±30%
Alternatively, try Bullet Chart by OKViz or a Variance Chart for a cleaner visual showing thresholds.
This will let you clearly see step differences and target ranges in one visual.

tested the Clustered Column Chart. I can add reference line but how do i change the blue bar to dot or star?

Hi again
You can’t directly turn bars into dots in a Clustered Column Chart.
Options:
Use a Scatter Chart and set marker shape to dot/star.
Use a Custom Visual like Bullet Chart by OKViz or Icon Chart.
Combine Column Chart + Scatter Marker for actual/target values.
Easiest approach: Scatter Chart or Bullet Chart.

here is a workaround for you, however, the data display is not correct because so far we can only display what you want and can't display the data as well.
pls see the attachment below

Thank you for the help.
So, is it not possible to include the value (represented by a blue dot) in the visual as well?

This is quite close. A column and line chart, with the lines removed but markers kept visible, would achieve the desired result. However, both the columns and markers need to share the same minimum and maximum values on the x-axis to ensure proper alignment.
