I created a template and I found some errors.  How do I edit this Power BI Template ?

The Correct Way to Modify a PBIT File in 2026

If you want to make changes to a Power BI template file (.PBIT), you cannot simply save your changes directly back into the same file format.

👉 Instead, you must export the template again.

Why?

  • Power BI Desktop only allows you to save files in .PBIX format.
  • The .PBIT format (template) is only created via the export function.
