How do I create custom default range slicer?

Trying to always have the current month displayed in the range, so because today's date is 9/8 I want the range to show 9/1-9/30 and when Oct 1st hits I want it to dynamically change to 10/1-10/31

You can use the report filters. Filter your date column by selecting "Relative Date" -> "is in this" -> "month".
