I would like to use the New Matrix Visual Preview feature and I refered to this link - https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-matrix-visual/ - to see how i can enable it but i don't see the relevant option in my power bi desktop.
Is there anything specific that i need to do in order to see the 'New Matrix Visual' in the list of Preview features? My Power BI desktop is up to date
Thanks,
Kriti
Hi @kritip,
Follow below steps:
1. Create Matrix visual.
2. Add your fields in Rows/Columns, however, you wanna design.
3. Add measure in Values field.
4. Right click on measure, you will see Conditional Formatting option.
Refer this link for more details. Conditional formatting is done in same way for tables as well.

Thanks it works, i am able to see the option now but unfortunately it doesn't solve my requirements 😞
I have the below matrix and I am looking to set the backgroud color of the cells based on the calculated values as shown below. So for cell with Orange value I would like the cell to be of Orange color.
Is there an option to do that in Power BI?
Hi @kritip,
We have an option called Background color scales in Condition formatting. You will be able to set the maximum of three colors. The limitation from your requirement is, you have text values. The option provides two scenarios to apply the background color,
There is no option for apply background color based on the text values.
I hope I made it clear.

Siva
Thanks for clarifying..I'll try to update my matrix to have static numbers instead of text but even in that case I'll have to create a Measure and I'll only be able to set color for 3 numbers and not more than that, right? Is there a way to achieve this (for more values) via some other visualization?
In my best of knowledge,
There is no option to set the background color (more than 3) based on some condition.
Thanks for clarifying. However i am still not able to see the new feature "Conditional formatting" in the matrix visual that i created. How do I enable that?
Please try the solution provided by prateekraina to see if it works on your side. And let us know if you still have problem on it.

Herbert
