How change a power BI report when the transform data button is greyed out.
My former colleague created and published a Power BI dashboard. However, I need to change the data source hence change the Unique identifier to point to my report. However the "transform data" button is greyed out (I cannot click it to edit) I have admin rights to the dashboard so I don't know what is causing the restriction or how to fix it.
Any suggestions and solutions will be greatly appreciated.

Pragati11 yes I believe so. Do you know how I can check?

HI JenellePetrie ,
If you go to top ribbon in Power BI Desktop --> Transform Data --> if Transform Data is greyed out then your report uses a DirectQuery or live connection to a dataset.
But under same settings you have an option Data source settings, this sould allow you to modify the data source settings for this report.
Once you select the highlighted option, you will get a way to modify the exitsing data source to the new one.
Let me know how you get along with this.

Hi Pragati11,
Thank you for clarifying that for me, it really helped.
I selected > Data source settings and I was given the option to link the dashboard to different data sets. I haven't created one so I will need to create a new data set before I link it.
My next question is there a way to see the data that is included in the data set so that I can mimic the columns with slight adjustments?
