Good day house,
Please, I am currently experiencing a challenge with Power BI and will appreciate any help/suggestion I can get.
I have a MySQL database which is hosted on Godaddy (cPanel hosting) and want to connect to it using Power BI desktop. I have installed the recommended connector (MySQL Connector/Net 6.6.5 for Microsoft Windows) and attempted the connection with (hostname, IP address, IP address: port etc)but I keep receiving the error below.
Has anyone else resolved this? I'll really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

Hi @magdarlyn,
Are you able to connect to MySQL with MySQL workbench? Ensure that MySQL workbench is installed in the same machine as Power BI Desktop.
Best Regards,

Thanks, Qiuyun Yu!
This solution worked for me. When trying to connect with MySQL Workbench, I realized remote connections had to be enabled on the cPanel hosting. Once done, I was able to connect with Power BI.
Thanks again for your assistance.
I have my database on GoDaddy with cPanel and it is working fine. I have tried to access this database using MS Workbench and it is reporting Port probems.
Which Port should I give it?
Hi @magdarlyn,
Thanks for your update. I will close this thread as the issue is gone now. ![]()
