1. Histogram

  • Create Bins:
    • In Power BI Desktop, right-click on the numeric field you want to bin (e.g., 'Sales') and select New group.
    • In the dialog, set the bin size (e.g., 10) to create intervals.
  • Build the Histogram:
    • Use a Clustered Column Chart.
    • Place the binned field on the Axis and the count of records on the Values.
  • Adjust Formatting:
    • Reduce the spacing between columns to make it resemble a histogram.
    • Go to Format > Visual > Columns > Spacing and set it to 0%.
  • Alternative: Use the Histogram custom visual from AppSource for more flexibility.

2. Gantt Chart

  • Import Gantt Visual:
    • In Power BI Desktop, go to Visualizations pane, click on the ellipsis (...) and select Get more visuals.
    • Search for "Gantt" and add the Gantt Chart by Microsoft.
  • Prepare Data: Your dataset should include fields like Task Name, Start Date, End Date, Duration, and Percent Complete.
  • Configure the Visual:
    • Add the Gantt visual to your report.
    • Assign the appropriate fields to the visual's fields well.
  • Note: For advanced customization, consider using the xViz Gantt Chart which offers more features.

3. Bullet Chart

  • Import Bullet Chart Visual:
    • In Power BI Desktop, go to Visualizations pane, click on the ellipsis (...) and select Get more visuals.
    • Search for "Bullet Chart" and add the Bullet Chart by OKViz.
  • Prepare Data: Your data should include fields for Actual Value, Target Value, and Qualitative Ranges (e.g., Poor, Satisfactory, Good).
  • Configure the Visual:
    • Add the Bullet Chart to your report.
    • Assign the fields accordingly in the visual's fields well.
  • Alternative: For more advanced features, consider using the Inforiver Bullet Chart which provides additional customization options.

4. Packed Bubbles

  • Import Packed Bubble Visual:
    • In Power BI Desktop, go to Visualizations pane, click on the ellipsis (...) and select Get more visuals.
    • Search for "Packed Bubble" and add the xViz Packed Bubble Chart.
  • Prepare Data: Ensure your dataset includes a Category field and a Measure field that determines the size of the bubbles.
  • Configure the Visual:
    • Add the Packed Bubble Chart to your report.
    • Assign the Category to the Category field and the Measure to the Value field in the visual's fields well.
  • Note: The xViz Packed Bubble Chart allows for customization of bubble size, color, and labels for better visualization.
