HierarchySlicer copy/sync bug still around

The HierarchySlicer by Jan Pieter Posthuma is a fantastic and essential slicer for use with hierarchical data, but over the years, some issues involving it and syncing have already been raised, such as

We've run into a possible continuation of the abovementioned issues, in that under certain circumstances, two synced HierarchySlicers on two different tabs of a report still seem to completely lose visualization of the internal filter state when switching between those tabs.

We've managed to make the problem readily reproducible in this pbix, in Power BI Desktop:

  • Failure to survive tab switch:
    1. start in tab "Test1", and clear the HierarchySlicer by selecting and then unselecting "Select All"
    2. select the entries "fou_sXFjT9v/", "rev_dp2tCsEg" and "col_D6Cky1L+"
Selection that will fail to survive switching tabsSelection that will fail to survive switching tabs
    3. switch to tab "Test2"
    4. the HierarchySlicer there will show no selected entries, while the other visuals on the tab clearly still reflect the inner filter of the HierarchySlicer.

  • Success to survive tab switch
    1. start in tab "Test1", and clear the HierarchySlicer by selecting and then unselecting "Select All"
    2. select the entries "ami_2K/kKsSx" and "rev_dp2tCsEg"
Selection that will survive switching tabsSelection that will survive switching tabs
    3. switch to tab "Test2"
    4. the HierarchySlicer now does still show the selected entries, and the inner filter still performs normally.

Any feedback about this issue, and/or information about the current status of the HierarchySlicer's sync functionality would be greatly appreciated. If this post belongs in a different forum, suggestions as to which forum is more appropriate, are also appreciated.

HI @dlathouwers,

I agree with amitchandak's point of view.
You can directly contact the custom visual author( @jppp ) to report this to confirm if this is a compatibility issue with the new version power bi or an internal processing issue of the custom visual itself.

Regards,

Xiaoxin Sheng
