Help with hardware requirements
For my job I'm in charge of implementing a Bi to in order to analyze register data of over 200 retail stores. We have gather register data on a PostgreSQL dating back to 2016. I've successfully connected PowerBi desktop to the PostgreSQL database but when I load different tables it has to collect over 100 million rows of data. This takes a lot of computing power on the CPU and RAM. Since i'm still on a trial version I havent been able to conclude if PowerBI desktop still uses a lot of computing power once the data is loaded. Could someone tell me if the recommended requirements from MS are enough for a data set like this, or do I need more, and what options I should use to minimize the computing power once the data is loaded.
Best regards,
Christiaan

Hi Christiaan,
The requirements from the link are the minimum requirements. I'm afraid that isn't enough for you. Other than the powerful hardware, please also refer to power-bi-reports-performance and visuals/power-bi-visualization-best-practices .
BTW, I would suggest you create a Data Warehouse that can take some work away from Power BI Desktop. For example, some ETL work.
Best Regards,
