Hi everyone, I am struggling to create the correct realtionships for my data model. The values are always the same number throughout any visual I make for a given day or a given machine. My problems come when I try to get values from the shift labor table and combine it with the shift quantities table. This is an image of the current model I have:
Hi @Anonymous
I recommend only using bi-directional relationships where there is no other choice. I see there are quite a few 1 to * relationships that are bi-directional.
In terms of the issue, it looks as though it may be occurring because you have a "many" from the Shift Labor table that goes through the Equipment Shifts table and then it goes to the Shift Quantities. The error is because your model is currently saying that there is only 1 EquipmentShifts for every ShiftLabor and there is only 1 EquipmentSHift for every ShiftQuanity.
In order to correct this, you will need to reassess your relationships between Shift Labor table and the Shift Quantities table, and possibly not have them go through the Equipment Shifts table.
Basically, in the below, the reason it is always the same is because the model currently says there is only 1 possible Equipment Shift for a Shift Labor, and only 1 possible Equipment Shift for a Shift Quantities.
Hope that makes sense?
All the best!
Theo

@TheoC I believe that the reason why there are multiple 1 to manys in my model are because the tables are connected by EquipmentShifts[Equipment] and Apriso Shift Labor[EquipmentName]. I believe it is 1 to many mainly because the EquipmentShifts table is essentially just list of one of each equipment and their info. The Shift labor table shows multiple rows of the same equipment because it is made on different shifts on many different days. The way my model is right now when I place values in a matrix it distinguishes different values produced for each equipment but all shifts are displaying the same value per equiment. Let me know if that makes sense. Thanks again! Here is an example of how it appears right now with some dummy data.
