Help with KPI Matrix spark lines and dates

I'm having trouble getting the result I want with KPI Matrix. Basically, I want the spark line to show a year to date summation up to today and summed by fiscal year.

If I use 'fiscal year' for the Date field, I get the correct spark line, but the As Of Date shows the year instead of today's date.

If I use 'date' as the Date field, then I get a super detailed spark line (summed by day). The As Of Date shows the right format, but the last day of the fiscal year instead of today's date.
