Have a fixed average line with multiple splicer options / multiple line graphs + legend

Hi All, 

 

I am comparing data sets from multiple schools in a city and ideally I'd like the following: 

 - a line graph where I can select multiple schools and compare them against the average score for all schools (with a legend for all schools) with the Year as the X-Axis and the average test score as the Y-Axis

 

The added complication is this test is done across multple grades so, for example, I want to be able to compare the Grade 6 scores, across multiple schools AND against the average - all on the same graph.  

 

I have a splicer for all the schools and a splicer for the grade. 

 

I am able to get the average line fixed using a few different Measures and can compare it to ONE school only.  

 

The issue comes when I select multiple schools - it combines the schools selected and calculates the average of the two of them, against the total average.  

I am unable to have the schools as the legend - and ideally this is what I'd like.  

 

See attached screenshot - I have selected two campuses and have also included the TOTAL (all schools average) but I want two distinct lines for the separate schools and a legend for which is which. 

 

I have searched high and low and unable to find a solution.

    eusf521 Couple ways to solve this. Use your Campus in the Small multiples area instead of Legend. Another way, move your average measure to be in the Analytics pane, Y-Axis Constant Line. You can set the value to be your measure. Then you can have your Campus in your Legend.

      Thanks Greg.  Unfortunately, that just gives me a dashed average across the entire 10 year span.  Any solutions to have the average for every year?

       

      At the moment I am just using the small multiples option - not perfect but is OK.
