Handling duplicates in IF statements

Hello

I write a MEASURE = IF(Table1[Col1]="SOMETHING",.....

However, it seems that because there are duplicate values in Table1[Col1], the MEASURE does not work.

This is not a behaviour I would expect, because I position this MEASURE next to Col1 in a table visual and it should just run the condition for the Table1[Col1] value of the same row.

How can this be managed?

I recall some use MEASURE = IF(MAX(Table1[Col1])="SOMETHING",..... but I do not understand why that is needed. What MAX is calculated exactly for each row of the table?

Can you explain please?

  • Hi Anonymous ,

Measure is different with calculated column, you need to use MAX(), MIN(), SELECTEDVALUE() or other functions to get a single value (aggregation) for calculation and comparison.

  • Anonymous you need to understand the difference between columns and measures, if you are creating a measure, you have to use some sort of aggregation and in this case, MAX is used as aggregation function.
