Grouping some accounts in Table View

All,

I have some data in a table which I need to see two ways.

I have the following principal accounts:

Advanced Energy

Artesyn

Excelsys

SL Power

Ultravolt

We also have approximately 20 more principal accounts which we receive commission payments from. What I ultimately want to do is creat a matrix table to see prinicpals on the left, months horizontally, filtered by the current year. In that view I want to see Advanced Energy sub-totalling all the prinicpal account values by month for the year, but have the ability to select the + symbol to expand and show the principal accounts under Advanced Energy.

I'm not sure how to group these in a way that I can still pull all my prinicpals in including the new group called Advanced Energy.

Hope that makes sense.

are you able to share dummy data with an example of what you expect to see?

      Hi,

So I just created a simple Matrix table.

Instead of having Artesyn and Excelsys shows as they are, I want to group the principals I noted so that they drop under Advanced Energy and would be indented. I still would want the other principals to show in the table as they are, but to have these grouped.

I was able to create a group, but dragging that from the Data pane into the Matrix table just showed Advanced Energy with data rolled up. I need to see it rolled up, but I also need to expand it and see each individually.

you need to create an additional column and use the additional column as the grouping at the higher or lower level level.  if they a different level, they probably shouldnt be in the same column anyway in power query you can  create an conditional column where if the column is a higher level set it to that or if its a lower level set it to that.  if you provide actual sample data in a decent text format i can do do it for you and show you.
