Grouping Columns in Table Visual with non-values

Hello all:

I am not sure if this is a formatting issue or not, but I am trying to group columns in a table visual and the drilldown/hierarchy doesn't seem to be working for me since they're not values. 

Basically, my data looks like this with several more columns:

What I would like to do is to table them in groups like below, but I can't seem to add columns to the matrix visual without it trying to aggregate on sum or count, or listing 'First Of' the options. The Matrix visual only seems good for Values and not the text-based data like I have here
