Salutations,
I have a adventureworks dataset to achieve, but its saved as a "PBIX FILE"
i did the save, compress, extract all and when i did my folders were empty.
even opening it with power bi it was not opening up correctly. I dont have the analyze data icon.
i even uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

While .pbix files are indeed archives you are supposed to use them as is, rather than extracting the contents.
The application to work with .pbix files is called Power BI Desktop

I know the procedure, its how to convert the pbix file to an excel format to use in a dataset in power bi.
i know to rename the pbix to a zip. but when i do and extract all, the folder is empty
Hmm. That's not the procedure at all.
It seems like you are trying to achieve something different. Can you please explain your goals again?

Thank you for your percise efficient feedback. You help all of us that are starting out and its appreciated.
Oddly it worked and the dataset opened. I did not restart my computer so that might have been the case. Albeit, going forward i still would like to know if i receive a different format dataset and need to upload it in power bi, how do i do that? Ex: A dataset that has "zip" at the end of the file name with no "XLSX" file extension that needs to be uploaded in power bi. What if the folders are empty?
I know you you extract the folder and rename it, but if it doesnt upload what are the other possible ways to accomplish? Perhaps change the source (path)

Is this adventureworks dataset going to be restored to the database and then used in the database?
If so, then in my testing, before the dataset is restored to the database, if the dataset file is incorrectly changed to the .pbix file format your problem is reproduced.
If you are restoring to the MS SQL Server database, the file format of the dataset may be .bak.AdventureWorks sample databases - SQL Server | Microsoft Learn
If you are restoring to the Analysis Services database, the dataset file format may be .abf.Release AdventureWorks for Analysis Services · microsoft/sql-server-samples · GitHub
