Graphing DAX Measure in Python/R Visual

I'd like to make a boxplot/box and whisker plot where the y-axis is a DAX measure. I can't get any of the 3rd party visualizations such as the one from MAQ Software to work, which is deserving of a separate rant. A Python or R visual may be an option instead. Would I be able to reuse my existing DAX measure, or would I have to rewrite its logic in either Python or R?
