Hello everyone
I have a simple 'self-serve' dashboard I'm working on that consists in a matrix visual with an 'Outline' Layout type where the rows, columns and values fields are all field parameters:
The issue I have is that if I toggle Row Subtotals on, in cases like the above where I select both the product code and product name in the Rows field parameter, I'll get a subtotal for each individual row. What I'm looking for is just a grand row total like the one on the first line.
Any ideas on how can I resolve this? Appreciate your help!

Hi @data_wizard_NOT,
You can turn off the "Product Hierarchy 3 Name" subtotal
Format > Visual > Row subtotals ( should be ON) > Apply setting to > Enable/ON Per row level > Select the Product Hierarchy 3 Name from Row level drop down > Rows > Trun off the show subtotal.
Thanks,

Hello @ajaybabuinturi
Thanks for the idea! While this works OK, the issue I see with this approach is that if my users select only the Product Hierarchy 3 Name field parameter, then they won't be getting a grand total. This can be solved by training them to always select both fields in that particular order, but I want to keep it as simple as possible for them. I'll appreciate there's any more ideas we can play with.
Thanks again!
Could you please provide some sample data.
Here's what I mean with not being able to see subtotals when using only the PH3 # field:
Selecting both:
Selecting PH3 Name only:
I made a test .pbix which I can attach later.
Thanks!
Hi @data_wizard_NOT ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
Yes, when users select only the Product Hierarchy 3 Name, and we’ve turned off its subtotal to avoid row-by-row subtotals, Power BI also removes the grand total because there's no higher level for it to total up from.
As a workaround please go through the below workaround:
One option is to always keep both levels (Product Hierarchy 3 and Name) in the Rows field parameter. That way, the grand total shows correctly at the top, and we can just hide the subtotal for the Name level
If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.

Menaka.
