Google Analytics report in Power BI Desktop and automatic refresh when published online

Hi all, 

 

I've read couple articles about the refresh functionality but I'm not entirely clear in my specific use case. 

 

I used Power BI desktop and connected it to our Google Analytics service. I then created a custom Google Analytics report that I published online to share it with my coworkers.

 

Because the data is based of Google Analytics, I thought I could refresh it automatically from Power BI online but it didn't seem to. 

 

Do I need to refresh manually using the Desktop version or do I need to setup a personal gateway or, can it be automatically refreshed since it's based of a Google service?

    Based on my testing, if I get data from Google Analytics in Power BI Desktop, I can schedule refresh without any gateway. We only need to give correct data source credential in Power BI Service.

     

    Google Analytics is an online service. According to this official document, automatic refresh is not supported and user need to configure manual or scheduled refresh without gateway.
