Google Analytics Access to resource is forbidden

Hi all,

I have several reports running on Power BI and one of the connection is from Google Analytics.

My reports were running well up until this morning when I tried refreshing the data only to be meet by this error

"Google Analytics Access to resource is forbidden"

I've tried clearing the permisions, clearing cache and starting a fresh connection on a new empy power bi file but still getting the same error.

anyone with a solution to this?

Hi @GrownSimba ,

It means that you do not have the proper permission to access the related resource when you get this error. What account credential did you use when you tried to connect to Google Analytics in Power BI Desktop? Please review the methods in the following thread, hope it can help you resolve the problem.

“Resource is forbidden” connecting Power bi with google analytics

Google Analytics Access to resource is forbidden

  • Request GA admin to delete and re-grant the access to you

And try edit the credential under Global Permission.

Hi @GrownSimba

I know this reply is very late lol but were you able to find a solution? I used the GA native connector but had some issues with my data sometimes. Maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supemetrics (which doesn't have PBI as a destination, so you first have to export to Google Sheets and then export to PBI) and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the GA connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your GA account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your GA fields:

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
