Goals (Scorecard) Visual Not Working

I created a KPI dashboard that contains almost exclusively Goals (scorecard) visuals connected to my predefined goals. A couple of days ago, all of the Goals visuals stopped working. This is also the case for my colleagues. The visuals are now empty and greyed out.

When I try to create a new Goals visual and browse existing goals or create a new one, these options are all greyed out as well. That happens in both the PowerBI desktop app and in service.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa,

Could you please confirm if the issue has been resolved after raising a support case? If a solution has been found, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share your insights with the community. This would be helpful for other members who may encounter similar issues.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Thanks @v-abhinavmu. We've raised a ticket with Microsoft Support. I'll share the response once we hear back from them.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa was there any update from the Microsoft Support ticket you raised for this? We were also experiencing this issue with the scorecard visual being greyed out, but in BI Desktop it seems to be working again as of today.

Hey @Cdh ,

No update as of yet other than the fact that they are aware of the issue. It's working for me again too, yay! I'm still waiting for some reassurance from Microsoft Support to confirm it's been resolved and is not just a fluke.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa,

I hope you're doing well. I wanted to check if your issue was resolved through your Microsoft support ticket. If it has been, could you please share any insights here, as they might help others facing similar problems?

If the issue is still unresolved, would you please share the support ticket number so we can track the status?

Thank you.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa ,
Thank you for the update.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa,

Thank you for confirming the results of those tests.

Sorry to know it didn’t help. Please consider reaching out to Microsoft Support. You can provide them with all the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, which will help them understand the issue better and provide a resolution. They might be able to identify something specific about your admin account setup or provide a solution that isn't immediately obvious.

Hi @Zuzanna_Lapa,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum. Also, thanks to @Anusha66 for the inputs on this thread.

Consider the below troubleshooting steps and proceed accordingly.

Verify whether the affected scorecards are still accessible directly from the Scorecards hub in the Power BI Service. Try creating a new scorecard and a new goal to see whether the issue affects only existing scorecards or all scorecards. Check whether the issue occurs in a new PBIX file with a newly added Goals visual. Test in a different  browser or an InPrivate/Incognito session to rule out browser cache issues. If possible, ask another user in a different workspace or tenant to verify whether they can create and use Goals visuals normally.

For more information, please refer to below documentation:

Hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. We will be happy to help.
Thank you.

Hi @v-abhinavmu,

Thanks for your reply.

We've tried all of the steps outlined in your message, but to no avail. There are no issues with the Scorecard experience, eveything is working fine there. The issue is clearly with the Goals (Preview) visual in PowerBI.

We tried adding it in both the desktop app and in the services, in multiple different workspaces by multiple users. We tried adding the visual to a new blank report and to an existing one. We cleared cache and used different browsers. The visual is still broken. It lets me get to this screen and then regardless of which option I pick it comes up with a grey screen.

Please could you advise?

I've tried removing and readding the Metrics visual preview feature too and that's not helped either.

Many thanks,

Zuzanna

Thanks! Where do I find documentation on these changes? Where can I find the Metrics experience in the service? The whole point of us using the Goals visual was that we wouldn't need to create massive composite models combining all of our organisational metrics. Using Goals (Scorecards) allows us to connect to existing reports and pull KPIs directly from them. We can present the metrics in a PowerBI report format that the users are already familiar with.

This is happening due to a recent change in how Microsoft handles Goals (Scorecards) rather than an issue in your report.

  • The Goals/Scorecard visual is being phased out from reports, and Microsoft is shifting everything to the Metrics (Scorecards) experience in the Power BI Service.
  • Because of this, existing visuals can turn grey/empty, and creating or linking new Goals visuals becomes disabled.
  • This behavior is being seen by multiple users recently, so it’s not specific to your workspace or permissions.
  • Now, goals are meant to be managed directly in the Service (Scorecards hub) instead of inside reports.
  • As a workaround, access and manage your goals in the Service → Scorecards, or consider replacing these visuals with standard KPI visuals in reports.

I'm having the exact same issues, unfortunately.

There was earlier mention the Goals (Scorecard)  visual is being phased out and a new one being phased in.  I cant find a Metrics (Scorecard) Visualization in the standard or community options.  Am I overlooking it?
