Getting PowerBi on office screen

Hello all! 🙂

I have created some dashboards for a company. Now they want it on a screen. The dashboard is loading data from an excel file within the company server folder.

My idea is to have a monitor/tv-screen with a Mini-pc behind the monitor. Is there any specific requirements I should think about? I was thinking to use this as a gateway as well when published. The company asks me if they should buy a TV + a PC for the TV. I'm just worried if there's some part which I am not thinking about.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @hedin123

A smart TV should do the work. The company will only need to connect to the service in the internet on the TV.

for refresh, a Gateway needs to be installed on premises to do the work.

For maintenance, of course a PC(Remote and/or local) will be needed.

Hi there! I know I’m late to the thread since the solution is already marked, but the OP’s question about looping a slideshow of dashboards hasn't really been answered. The simplest approach is to use digital signage software that allows you to assign individual dashboards (pages/reports) to each slide. Several solutions offer this functionality, but choosing one with a direct API integration will be your most best option.

I know using external software might seem counterintuitive if you’re trying to simplify your workflow but as long as the solution is compatible with the devices you already have (your displays + a Windows PC, for example), it’s not much more effort to incorporate a third-party tool to do the communicating between those & Power BI for you.

Here’s an article that explains how to set up dashboards on screens as a slideshow - hopefully, it’ll be helpful for anyone revisiting this topic in the future!

Hello @aj1973

Thanks for your answer!

What if I want to show it as a slideshow on the tv? 🙂 If I have several pages and I want it to slide through maybe 15 seconds each?

Best Regards,

Hedin
