Get city, longitude/latitude, country, or state/province, etc from a zip code within power bi

Hi all,

I currently have a table of data that contains a column with zip codes. Is it possible to retrieve other geogrpahical information from just the zip codes in Power BI? Excel has a really nice Geography tool underneath the data tab that does this task, but I cannot find anything similar in Power BI. Ideally I would want power bi to match what I was able to do in excel below:

Is this possible? I know power bi has mapping graphics but I am just trying to pull other info from the zipcode. I have also seen there may be certain api solutions like googles geocode, but I am really trying to see if there is anything built into Power BI that could do the job for free.

I appreciate the help, thanks!

what I usually get it latitude and longitude from google and it works.

so what you can do after getting it is add a conditional column in power query or a calculated if and else column.

Hi Idrissshatila ,

Appreciate the quick response. My goal here is to get almost like a calculated column that contains geogrpahical info (city, state/province, etc) rather than to simply display my zip codes on a map if that makes sense.

what I usually get it latitude and longitude from google and it works.

so what you can do after getting it is add a conditional column in power query or a calculated if and else column.

Hi @Idrissshatila

That may work, I think using google within power query requires the geo api which unfortunately has a subscription fee. Probably a solution, but not 100% what I am looking for. I apprecate the idea!
