Generated table not being affected by slicer

Both of these tables are configured as slicers.

I generated a table with the forumla below.

generate(distinct('sales category table'[sales category]), distinct('sales margin table'[margin category]))

The resulting table cannot be filtered by the slicers.  Please help me figure out where I am mistaken.  My goal is to generate a list of values combining all possibilities of the 2 categories above, i.e. A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, .....

Then I would like this lists to be filtered when any of the slicer buttons are selected.
