Gauge Widget - Real Time Value

    To bypass the 8 updates limitation, why not use the DirectQuery mode? No schedule refresh is needed then.

That is the normal behavior.

 

When attempting to "Don't Summarize", what would you like to get with a Gauge Widget? I don't quite get the idea "real time value" in your case, if you mean something like" the latest", it is still a "Summarize".

Your right, I mean the latest value..

 

I'm working on an industrial IoT project using Azure microservices, including Power Bi.

I want to use the gauge visual to show the temperature of an industrial equipment in real time. I want the latest real measure, not any kind of agregated data.

 

I could have used a line chart and point the last dot to read the latest data but...

 

I plan to use the new Power Bi Augmented Reality to allow the equipment operator to scan a QR code to find out the real time temperature of the machine. A line chart is not a good option in this context.

 

 

Do you have any idea of what I could do with Power Bi to achieve this goal. Maybe some resource or example project I could take inspiration of ?

    So you're talking about something on Power BI mobile, while I don't really know much.

    Regarding the Gauge Widget and "latest", you can reference a measure as below.

     

    Measure =
AVERAGEX (
    FILTER ( ALL ( 'Table' ), 'Table'[datetime] = MAX ( 'Table'[datetime] ) ),
    'Table'[temperature ]
)

      Hi Eric,

       

      Thank you for the idea.

       

      A measure would certainly do the job If I would use the desktop application. But I found out that If I create my reports with Power BI Desktop and then transfer them to Power BI Service I'm limited to 8 updates per day, even with the Pro version.

       

      That's why I try to send datas directly from Azure Stream Analytics to Power BI Service. But by doing it this way, I can't neither create any measure nor do any data manipulation after the datas are sent to Power BI.

       

      I worked a lot to create an appropriate T-SQL query in Azure Stream Analytics before the datas are transfered to Power BI. This way I thought that I would be able to avoir aggregation but it failed...

       

      Power BI is more and more used to display datas of iot projects. All the documentation (Microsoft and other) recommends to transfer datas directly from Stream Analytics to Power BI to build a serious Azure based iot project. So I can't believe that it's impossible to display real-time iot datas with Power BI Service gauges. There must be a way to do it ! If not, I think that this feature should be added to Power BI as soon as possible.

       

      Whould you have any kind of "Super Incredible trick" that would make my "Dream" come true ? 😉
