Gateway limitations

Dear All,

Since two days i have a problem with data refreshing on my account.

I'm getting sync error that 'Uncompressed data received on the client gateway, crossed the limit.'

There is no further information, about kind of limitation. Is that on rows or total size limitation?

    Hi MWiewiorski,

You can take a look at below article which mentions about this issue:

Data limit here is not related to model size. It is related to how much data is being transferred during refresh. There is a 10 GB limit on that. Users model can be 488 MB but if he is downloading more than 10 GB during refresh it will fail. Please provide RAID's if you want us to investigate new refresh failures. There is no data download limits in PBI desktop so it will be successful over there. For more information please see.

    https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-gateway-onprem-tshoot/

Error: The received uncompressed data on the gateway client has exceeded limit. The exact limitation is 10 GB of uncompressed data per table. If you are hitting this issue, there are good options to optimize and avoid the issue. In particular, reducing the use of highly repetitive, long string values and instead using a normalized key or removing the column (if not in use) will help.

      Hi Xiaoxin Sheng,

Thank You very much, that's exactly may problem.

I will try to reduce useless columns, if they are still there.

edit: I have removed 3 useless columns from my data source, and it works again, but I'm affraid that it will help me for a month maybe. Is there any way to check how much data is transferred during refresh?
