Gannt Chart Snap View
Hi there,
I'm currently creating a Gannt Chart with the Microsoft Gannt Chart Visual. The time frame is spread from August 2025 to August 2027. Is there any way to snap the Gannt Chart so its all viewable at once? There's no task less than a month in duration so it will be asthetically fine to do. Currently, there is an x axis scroll bar. I tried changing the Width in the Format settings but that just changes the width of the visualisation on the sheet and keeps the scroll bar so the actual width of the full chart remains the same.
Hopefully its just something silly I've missed. Appreciate any help,

When using the Microsoft Gantt Chart visual with a long timeline (like August 2025 to August 2027), the horizontal scrollbar appears because the timeline axis scales to fit the entire date range. Simply increasing the visual width won’t remove the scrollbar since the timeline’s scale does not auto-adjust to fit visually.
To show the full timeline at once, try adjusting the timeline granularity to months or quarters if the visual supports it, or explore zoom/scale settings in your visual's format pane. Alternatively, filtering to a smaller date range or using a more feature-rich Gantt visual like the xViz Gantt Chart (available on AppSource) could help display your data cleanly without scrolling.
Currently, Power BI’s native Gantt chart does not offer a “snap to full timeline” feature so these workarounds are recommended for better aesthetics and usability.🌟 I hope this solution helps you unlock your Power BI potential! The Microsoft Gantt Chart Visual is quite limited when it comes to controlling the time axis and overall display size, so it’s not possible to “snap” the entire range into view without scrolling. Changing the visual width only affects the frame size, not the actual time range.
Your suggestion is absolutely right:
Build a custom Gantt using a Matrix visual. It’s much more flexible and gives full control over the time axis, display style, and color formatting. If you use a month column in a compact format likemm/yy, you can easily display multiple years clearly and neatly — without needing to scroll.
