GA4 Connector doesn't work

Hi all,
i am trying to gather data from GA4 using the beta connector. It works well, but it seems that it can't import more than a certain number of row (around 20.000 rows). If rows are more than that, it keeps loading and loading, so i can't use it to obtain data from a larger time range, making it useless.
I noticed this problem months ago, but i still can't find a solution.

Do you have any update or solution for that?

Thank you so Much!

G

Hi @G_CR_23 Were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party tool. I currently use windsor.ai's GA4 connector and I don't have any problem with rows limitation. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the GA4 connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your GA4 account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your GA4 fields:

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Any solutions?

Hi @G_CR_23

Can you split the current query into two or more queries to reduce the number of rows to be loaded in each query? Not must depend on date. Then append the queries into a new query to get the complete data. Each query will send an individual request to the API to get a subset of values, which may not hit the API's limitation.

Hi @Anonymous ,
ty for the idea, but it can't help in my situation, because i need data field, and even if i select only the last 2 weeks i have this problem.

In this way this API is almost useless, i hope there is or will be a solution, because it didn't happen with ga universal.

However, Ty very much!

Hi @G_CR_23

Google Analytics APIs do have some limitations on the queries sent to them. When date ranges are very large, Google Analytics will return only a subset of values. You can use the process described in Troubleshooting section of the following documentation to understand what dates are being retrieved, and manually edit them. If you need more data, you can append multiple queries with different date ranges.

Hi @Anonymous ,
ty so much, but my problem isn't that i obtain only a subset of data. I see data in power query, but when i click on close and apply, data start to loading and keep going forever. It happens when rows are more then 20k and it can depends not only from time range, but also for the number of dimensions that you need, because more dimensions = more rows and it seems that power bi can't load more than a certain numbers of rows.

Thanks so much!

Gianluca
