Hi. Hypothetically, would it be okay to refresh and publish a PBI report every 20 minutes from PowerBI Desktop, if we are using PowerBI Pro to view the report? For example, what if I had a plant operator refresh and publish a report every 20 minutes during his/her shift (automation aside)?
The PBI report queries several tables on two MSSQL databases (import not DirectQuery). If refreshing and publishing from the Desktop program, the queries would be performed by the local computer. Would MS have any issue with this, given the use of a shared capacity without PowerBI Premium?
Thank you.
Hi @Anonymous
it be okay to refresh and publish a PBI report every 20 minutes from PowerBI Desktop with pro account.
But it needs you to do that manually.
You can also publish the reports to the Service and set up schedule refresh with a data gateway. Finally the refresh job will be done automatically.
But with this method without premium capacity, If your dataset is imported,dataset is refreshed up 8 times a day;
If your dataset is configured for a live or DirectQuery connection, datasets are refreshed approximately each hour or when interaction with the data occurs. You can manually adjust the refresh frequency in the Scheduled cache refresh option in the Power BI service.
Please read links below to know more.

@Anonymous
I think that would be possible if it does not get too repetitive on your side having to manually refresh and publish the report each 20 minutes
