Formatting a Bar/Line Graph: How to Adjust Legend Size

I have a bar/line graph where I have a lot of data and the data names are pretty long. This causes the data names to be cut off.

Is there a way to adjust the legend so that the full data name can be seen?

I tried moving the legend to all the positions on every side, and I've gone down a font size, but you still can't read the whole name.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Due to I don’t know the specific length of your data names. I try to Expand the data names by xxxxxx…

You can try to change the size of the visual to be bigger and this may help you.

Here are two ways:

  1. Click the visual and drag corners or sides to make the size bigger.

You can change the Width of the Columns bigger in General.

  1. You can turn off the Legend and try to use a Tree Map to show the Legend.

Currently, there is no way we can arrange the legends as per the space on our visualization. With the default options there is no way to word wrap the legend.

That makes sense, but that didn't solve my problem. From what I could see, using tree map still took up more space than I have alloted horizontally.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I forgot to add the sample. Here you are. Please have a try.

There are two tree maps in my sample. One is using MonthID in Values field. For another one, I drag a measure into it. You could choose one based on your actual report.

(Note: It is not supported to wrap either. We still need to drag it to show name entirely. )

Best Regards,
Xue Ding
