Format Subtotal Column in Power BI

Hi,

I have created a Matrix with subtotals only activated for the column "Year". I would like to know how to format the column total for the Year. I cannot find any option in the "Format visual" .

Thank you so much!

I tried in PBI, you can set up the color separately. However, you can't set up the data type separately.

  • Hi EstherBR,

In the Matrix visual, the column totals (like your “Year Total”) don’t have a separate formatting option under Format visual. They inherit formatting from the field itself.

If you want to format them differently, you have two main options:

    1. Field formatting (per column/measure)

      • Go to Format visual → Cell elements → Values → Specific column.

      • Select your measure/column, then adjust number format, font, background, alignment, etc.

      • This applies to both the detail cells and their total/subtotal cells.

    Hope it can help you,

    Best regards,

    Antoine

  • Hi Antoine,

Thanks for your help AntoineW , but I couldn´t find the option in Cell elements.

    I finally found it on

    • Go to Format visual → Column Subtotals → Values
