Forma DJR Font

Hi,   Can anyone please help in understanding how I can download and install the Forma DJR font on the desktop?

    Hi parvez221,

    Thank you for the follow-up question. You're right in your understanding. Currently, Power BI does not support custom fonts (like Forma DJR) for text elements such as titles, legends, data labels, axis labels, or column headers.

    Only the default fonts provided by Power BI are available for use across visuals and text-based elements.

    As you mentioned, you can create stylized text (using Forma DJR) in an external tool like Figma, Illustrator, or Photoshop, and then export that as a PNG/SVG image. You can then import this image into Power BI using the Image visual, typically for use as:

    • Visual headers
    • Section dividers
    • Backgrounds or decorative elements (e.g., in report wallpaper)

    However, this is purely static and won’t behave like actual Power BI text it will not resize dynamically or respond to slicers/filters.

Thank you, v-kpoloju-msft, that was helpful. But I am not aware of the tools Figma or how to design in Photoshop.

 

The idea shared by MFelix was helpful, creating a dummy font and getting JSON, and updating it with the desired one.

 

But f]to do so, I need to have the font downloaded, so can you please help from where I can download the font to follow what MFelix suggested.

Hi parvez221,

Thanks for the follow-up question. Currently, Power BI Desktop does not support custom fonts, including Forma DJR. It only supports a fixed set of system fonts.

Reference: Customize theme fonts in Power BI

This means that even if Forma DJR is installed on your PC, it will not appear in Power BI's font dropdown, nor will it render in visuals.

Use a design tool like: Microsoft PowerPoint. Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop. Figma or Canva (with custom font upload if available). Create branded text or design elements: Type your headings or labels using Forma DJR. Apply your desired font size, colour, spacing, etc.

Export the design as an image: Save or export the text or banner as a PNG or SVG image. Make sure to use a transparent or matching background colour if needed. Import into Power BI: Open your Power BI Desktop report. Go to Insert → Image. Select and insert the image created with Forma DJR. Resize and position it as needed in your report layout.

This method preserves your custom typography while allowing you to maintain consistent branding even though the font isn’t natively supported by Power BI.

Note: The image-based workaround ensures your custom branding is retained when the report is shared or published to the Power BI Service.

    Thank you,v-kpoloju-msft. So, what I understood is that I can create a template of PNG/SVG and import it into Power BI as an image, but not as a regular font. For example, a visual title/legend/values/header name/column name, etc, cannot be Forma DJR font, only an image from an external tool, and that too as a wallpaper.
