Forcing text on rows extend to more than one row

Hello,

I need ideas on how to make the text on the column extend to the next 2 rows on the right instead of wrapping on single column. Is that possible?

  • Column spanning across adjacent cells is not supported in Power BI's native Table or Matrix visual, cells cannot merge horizontally the way they do in Excel or paginated reports.

If the requirement is strict layout control with text spanning columns, Paginated Reports (Report Builder / RDL) support full cell merging via tablix cell properties. You can right-click a cell → Merge Cells across as many columns as needed.

  • mjsystemss You can disable "Auto-size width" visual setting and stretch the visual to your entire page width. Also adjust the width of the columns were you expect the texts to be double lined.

    1. Click the Visual -> Go to Format visual -> Disable Auto-size width

  • Hey, mjsystemss ,

You can't really do that if you want a similar experience to that in Excel. You can perhaps resize it to be wider, or add a custom tooltip so you can show the text as you need. But that's kinda all you can do.

Alternatively, look for some custom visuals that allow you to do it.

  • Hi mjsystemss

Values in a visual are restricted to a single cell unless you actually split them by creating multiple columns or measures.
