For Snowflake cloud connections using OAuth authentication, is an on-premises data gateway required for scheduled refresh?

    Hi manoj_0911 ,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Snowflake allows Power BI users to connect using Identity Provider credentials with an OAuth 2.0 implementation to provide an SSO experience when accessing Snowflake data. In this setup, the Power BI service uses an embedded Snowflake driver to connect directly to Snowflake, which eliminates the need for an on premises Power BI gateway.

Because of this, a gateway is generally not required for scheduled refresh when using OAuth authentication with Snowflake.

A gateway would only be required if the Snowflake instance is accessible only through a private network configuration such as PrivateLink, or if your organization requires all outbound connections to go through a gateway.

For more details, please refer to the documentation:

Hope this helps. Please reach out for further assistance.
    Thank you.
