Hi community,
I'm using a custom Flow Map visual in Power BI that plots origin-destination lines between DCs and customers across the xyz. However, the map currently displays the following error message across the center:
"The specified credentials are invalid. You can sign up for a free developer account at http://www.bingmapsportal.com"
This seems related to the Bing Maps API key, but:
I am not sure where or how to enter a valid key for this visual.
I have already tried signing up at the Bing Maps Portal, but the key doesn’t seem to work, or Power BI doesn't accept it.
This issue appears only in the Flow Map visual and not in the default map visuals.
📌 What I’m looking for:
How to correctly register and apply a Bing Maps key in a custom Flow Map visual?
Is this error due to Flow Map being deprecated? If yes, what is the recommended alternative or a way to replicate the functionality (origin-destination line drawing) without API issues but make sure line width depends on volume?
and also tell me this note is popup for enterprice accound or free account.
Any guidance or working examples would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hi @1s ,
The Flow Map visual in Power BI may display the message "The specified credentials are invalid" if the Bing Maps API key is missing or incorrectly configured. To address this:
Obtain and Enter a Bing Maps API Key:
Create a free Bing Maps developer account.
Generate an API key and input it in the Flow Map visual settings within Power BI. Be sure to save and refresh the visual afterward.
Check Your API Key:
Confirm that the API key is still valid and has not exceeded usage limits. If necessary, generate a new key.
Double-check that you have entered the key correctly, without extra spaces or characters.
This issue is specific to the Flow Map visual and does not affect Power BI’s standard map visuals.
Consider Alternatives:
If the problem continues, you may want to use Azure Maps or ArcGIS Maps for Power BI, both of which offer similar mapping features.
Account Type Information:
This error may occur with both free and enterprise accounts, as it is related to API key validation.
For additional assistance, consult the Bing Maps documentation, Power BI community forums.
Thank you.
