Flight Route Map with Mileage

Hello Everybody,

Who could tell me how I can make a map that shows flight paths with the mileage? Even more specifically, I need to know the miles that the flight path went over each state(USA only). I have found some custom R visuals on here but nothing that can solve my problem. Any help would be much appreciated.
