Filters and slicers affecting this visual. Not picking up friendly names?

Question

When connecting directly to SQL or SSAS the friendly business names are not always being picked up in the viz when filtering?

Sometimes it picks up some of the friendly names but not always?

Is there any way to ensure friendly names are picked up - besides setting them at the back end in SSAS etc?

EamonT , You are doing a visual level rename . Rename them under fields pane (Rightmost pane). That will be global rename

Hi&nbsp;v-lionel-msft&nbsp;thanks for your reply - appreciate it is better to change names in SSAS but in my use case that would be difficult.Here is the same table, in one case working the other not, so it seems changing the viz names can work but not all the time?&nbsp;Working (Picking up the viz name changes)Non-Working - same report, same viz ... (Not picking up the viz name changes?).&nbsp;Thanks.&nbsp;

amitchandak&nbsp; thank you for your reply -&nbsp; indeed I now realize it is possible when it is an SQL direct query, a rename option is there but my main use case is SSAS Connect Live and it doesn't appear to give me the rename option on the far right pane when it's SSAS ?&nbsp;&nbsp;Thanks.

Yes, you cannot rename the field when you use the ‘Live Connection’ connection mode. Because the connection information in this connection mode cannot be modified, just as you cannot use the ‘Advanced Editor’.

You can modify the field names before connecting the model.&nbsp;For the 'Live Connection' connection mode, the data modeling is completed before connecting the model.

Yes, we can modify the column names that are added to the visual, this does not affect the names of the columns in the data model.
&nbsp;

Is this a tooltip page? why the above example can achieve the following but not?😂&nbsp;
As tested, the column names can be modified in every visual.
