Filtering on visuals that contain multi select survey question data

I use Power BI desktop only for survey data, and our team has not been able to figure out how you filter on visuals that contain data from multi select questions (questions where a respondent can select more than one answer). For example when you click on one bar of a bar graph, the other visuals on the tab do not interact even when interactions are selected as active. All of our multi select data is being referenced from a transposed data table which I think has something to do with it.

This example shows three visuals: two single select charts (Age and Whether found info/resources) and one multi select chart (Console Type Used to Play Games). The first image below shows no filters on. The second image shows what happens when you filter on a single select, where the rest of the data filters and the respondent count reflects how many respondents selected this answer. The third image shows that when you filter on a multi select question, the rest of the charts do not interact with it, including the respondent count. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

    Hi Anonymous ,

If I understand your scenario correctly that you have interaction problems when filter multiple selections between visuals in power bi.

If so, by my tests with the latest version of power bi desktop, I cannot reproduce your issue.

If you still need help, please share a dummy pbix file which can reproduce the scenario, so that we can help further investigate on it? You can upload it to OneDrive and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.)

    Best  Regards,

    Cherry

      Hi Cherry,

The problem we are having is not in relation to filtering on multiple visuals, but filtering on visuals that contain data from multi select survey questions. From my example above, 'Age' is the visual representing single select survey data (data where respondents can select one option only and where percentages in the visual add up to 100%) and 'Console type used to play game(s)' is the visual representing the multi select survey data (data where respondents can select more than one response, meaning that the data has to be rebased).
