Filtering a Filter: How do I NOT retain selection from previous filter

I have a report with two filters. My first filter is for book categories. My second filter is for specific Book Titles, and only one book can be selected at a time. When I select a particular book category, it filters the list of Book Titles. A specific Book Title can then be selected from the second filter, with gives details about the book.

Here's the challenge: Suppose I select the "GrumpStumpers" book under the Fantasy Category. When I switch to the Non-Fiction Category, the filtered list of books changes, but the "GrumpStumpers" book remains selected on the filtered list until I select a book from within the filtered list. Once I select another book, GrumpStumpers goes away as an option.

Is there any way to get around this so that the previous selection doesn't show up in the newly selected list of filtered items?
