I have multiple Cards on my canvas and want to allow the user to click on one of the Card Visuals to filter other visualisations across the canvas. How can this be achieved?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Here is a workaround I have utilized - looks just like a card:

Please see this feature idea here that would make this possible:

And a workaround custom visual here:
I recently developed the Slicer Button custom visual that allows one to use a card as a filter (more specifically as a "slicer"). Using a bookmark has some drawbacks and this custom visual allows a card to be used more similarly to a slicer visual.
Below if a YouTube video demonstrating how to setup and use the visual as well as a link to the GitHub repository.

I'm happy to clarify anything that's unclear regarding the visual. I also have a blog post on the topic titled Turn your cards into slicers with the Slicer Button custom visual.
If you found this post useful, it's helpful to me if you give it a thumbs up and accept it as a solution!
Best,
Matt
@Anonymous ,
You may also try adding value to the Matrix visual.
By not using Cards. 🙂 Seriously, Card visuals do not filter anything.
If Cards are not used, what would be a good alternative to "buttons" for filtering visuals in the same page?
Use a list slicer set to a General | Orientation of Horizontal and an Items | Outline
That approach works but it does not display the data value associated to the "button".
Looks like there is no other way except using a combination of a horizontal list slicer & Card.

@Anonymous - Can you show me a picture of what you are trying to go for? I might be able to come up with a way. One thought, use actual buttons and tie them to bookmarks that you create that have the data filtered how you want.
