File contains corrupted data Details: Binary
Refreshing I get the "File contains corrupted data" error.
I have tried opening, saving, closing but it doesn't seem to make any difference 😣
I am pretty sure the error is with your Excel file, not your PBIX.
Test this:
- Save the Excel file.
- Close the Excel file.
- Make a copy of it.
- Open the original Excel file.
- Delete 99% of the data so it is really small.
- Save and close the file
- REfresh the PBIX.
What happens then? And as an aside, how big is this file?

File is 33.3mb - I did try splitting this into 2 files yesterday and then was going to append but I had the same issue.
I have just cut the file down to 20,000 rows and it refreshed. Does that mean there's an error in the other however many rows or?
Do we know why it would randomly bring up the error though even though I have worked on it for several hours today with no problems? It was only when I added a conditional column that it appeared to cause an error.

I would be inclined to open a support ticket with MS at the bottom of the Power BI support page. I cannot do that as the file I was having an issue with I got rid of and we moved to a direct SQL access, but it seems clear that there is a glitch in Power BI Desktop with larger Excel files on Sharepoint that started probably with the April desktop update.
