Field icon for date fields
Hi,
I have two fields with dates in. One shows a date icon and the other (a calculated field) does not:
With date icon:
Without date icon:
eventhough in the toolbar the data type is showing as "Date":
Please can you tell me why the calculated field doesn't show a date icon? Do all calculated fields show the "fx" icon or is Power BI somehow not recognising the data as dates?

icon means that this is a calendar date field with a built-in date table.
And not all calculated fields show the "fx" icon .
If a field is a Calculated column with a non-numeric data type ,it will show this icon .
If a field is a Numeric calculated column with a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) formula that defines the column’s values ,it will show this icon .
it is true that the data maybe recognized as "text " rather than "date" due to the format problem, so sometimes you need to manually create formulas to convert the data.

Anonymous , The one date is Date, The other one is calculated column. At the end of this page(link), you have the meaning of all icons

All calculated columns are indicated by the fx icon. This is so you can determine which fields are calculated columns. To your point it would be nice to have an additional icon for date next to it.
