Field Parameters om Semantic model

I have a report in which I want to use a Field Parameter.  If I create the field parameter locally (in my report) it behaves correctly.  However, if I create the field parameter in my Semantic Model, my visual will show field names rather than values.  Is this a known bug?  Is there a way around this?

Hello @peterott

In practical terms, the Semantic Model engine does not yet reproduce the same dynamic behaviour implemented in Power BI Desktop. Create the Field Parameter in the report, not in the Semantic Model
Even when using a centralised model, Microsoft currently recommends:

  • Keeping dynamic calculations and field parameters within the report
  • Keeping the Semantic Model focused on tables, fixed DAX, and relationship

This avoids the issue of visuals showing field names instead of values.

If this response was helpful in any way, I’d gladly accept a kudo.
